BJC | Missouri Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented BJC with its Above and Beyond Award at a special presentation in Jefferson City, Aug. 25. The award is granted to employers who provide additional, non-mandated benefits to members of their workforce who must take leaves of absence to fulfill their military duties.
“There are members of the guard and reserve working across BJC, and having the support of your employer is crucial for your civilian career and for your family,” says Troy Compardo, BJC supply chain regional operations director, BJC Veterans Connection co-sponsor, and a member of the U.S. Air Force-Air National Guard. “Aside from having a venue to bring together veterans or active military with the Veterans Connection group, BJC shows a commitment to supporting employees and their families through compensation and benefits when unable to fulfill duties at home.”
Compardo, Michael Kelly, BJC Veterans Connection co-sponsor and Missouri Baptist Medical Center operations vice president, and Al McQueen, director of BJC supply chain central operations, accepted the award for BJC.
More information about the BJC Veterans Connection group is available at www.bjc.org/BJC-Connections/Veterans. To receive group news and activity information, email Kelly, firstname.lastname@example.org, or Compardo, email@example.com.

For service members like me who are continuing their service in the reserves or guard while working for BJC, this award shows the commitment to supporting our working veteran co-workers. I submit ESGR recognition forms each year knowing BJC has supported me with not only one but now recently TWO tours/mobilizations. As difficult as it may sometimes be, my managers, staff, and co-workers have been a second family to me in regards to the transitioning processes we, as deployed and working veterans, go through with overseas tours. Not to mention the back and forth to and from active military status', month long annual trainings, and drill weekends. Congratulations to BJC for receiving this honor.
