BJC | It’s almost time to break out your jump rope and join in the fun of the annual Double Dutch Showcase. The event offers an opportunity for friends, neighbors, co-workers and family of all ages to form teams, practice and have fun performing Double Dutch jumping. All skill levels are welcome.
The free event will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Dec. 8, at the Wohl Recreation Center, 1515 N. Kingshighway Blvd. Register your team at HSHC@bjc.org or visit the Wohl Rec Center for a registration form.
More than 100 people participated in last year’s Double Dutch Showcase, with nearly 150 spectators cheering from the sidelines.
Missouri Foundation for Health provides funding to BJC School Outreach and Youth Development and Saint Louis Public Schools to sponsor this Healthy Schools Healthy Communities (HSHC) initiative. The event is supported by HSHC, Saint Louis Public Schools AIM for Fitness, BJC School Outreach and St. Louis City Division of Recreation.
The Double Dutch Showcase isn’t a competition — it’s a chance for communities to come together and have fun while being active. It’s just one of many events and activities that HSHC and a number of other community agencies have fostered to address the issue of obesity in the City of St. Louis.
“This event brings people of all ages together, not competing against one another, but supporting one another,” says Diana Wilhold, director of BJC School Outreach and Youth Development. “It’s a celebration of what you choose to do in being active.”
Resource booths at the event will provide information about being active and eating healthful food. A DJ will provide music to keep everyone energized and engaged, and healthy concessions will be available.

It just reminds me of the old school days, I just love to see new generation holding on to old school things.
