BJC | Are you looking to make healthier choices this year when it comes to nutrition? If so, you’ll want to check out the new Morrison dining website for help making healthier choices during your work day.
The new site not only lists the daily menu for Morrison cafés across BJC, it also includes the nutrition information for each food item, along with other health and wellness news and the specials in each café. (Information for Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital, Memorial Hospital East and Parkland Health Center will be available soon.)
Look for the “Morrison café menus” button (at right), just above the BJC opinion poll, or visit morrisoncafes.compass-usa.com/BJCHealthCare.
The site is designed to be customized to your place of work. Look for “Select Location” in the upper-righthand corner and choose your place of work for menus and information at your location. The site is also mobile-friendly, so you can check it from your smartphone.
Under Daily Menu & Nutrition, you’ll find complete nutrition information for each menu item listed, including calories, fats, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, fiber, sugars, protein and more. So, you can make a healthful decision before you even get to the café.
“This is a great tool for those who are trying to make better nutrition choices,” says Trish Vorachek, Morrison wellness manager at BJC. “We know that employees often make quick choices when they visit the café. By making the nutrition information more accessible ahead of time, we hope to make it easier for employees to incorporate healthier choices into their meals.”
The site also offers a “Let’s chat” link for feedback.
Do you track your food?
Morrison has also made it easier to track the foods served in BJC’s cafés.
If you use a food diary such as MyFitnessPal or LoseIt, you now have access to complete nutrition information for Morrison’s menu items.
“Morrison has partnered with the MyFitnessPal and LoseIt apps to help individuals keep food records and track calories,” Vorachek adds. “Most of Morrison’s recipes and nutrition information are in the apps, so if individuals are using the apps and eat in one of our cafés, they can pull up accurate nutrition information simply by typing ‘Morrison’ in the food search and then looking for the menu item.
“Both apps are great tools to help individuals stick to their New Year’s resolutions or other goals for fitness and a healthy weight,” Vorachek adds.
