BJC | Jill Skyles, vice president and chief nurse executive, will be moving into a new role at the BJC Center for Clinical Excellence, following 19 years leading patient care services at BJC’s St. Charles County hospitals.
As senior strategy consultant for the CCE, Skyles will have a leadership role in launching the Nursing Workforce Initiative. This key initiative is designed to identify and address major issues impacting nurses and, subsequently, patient care delivery. In addition, she will focus on development of a model for care coordination across BJC, creation of an optimal nursing staffing model, care delivery process simplification, and overall management of staff training logistics in support of Epic implementation.
“Although Jill will be missed at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters and Progress West, where she has made immeasurable contributions to the hospitals and the larger St. Charles County community, BJC is fortunate to be gaining Jill’s wealth of patient care experience at the CCE,” said Chris Watts, president of BJSPH and PWH.
Skyles first joined BJC at Christian Hospital in 1975. She served in a number of progressively responsible leadership roles over the course of her career and was named assistant administrator of patient care services at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in 1998. She was named vice president in 2003 and was instrumental throughout the planning and approval process for Progress West’s opening in 2007. She has led patient care services for both hospitals over the past decade. Skyles is a long-time resident of St. Charles County and has tirelessly served as an ambassador for BJC and our St. Charles County hospitals throughout the community.
Skyles will join the CCE July 1 to help ensure a smooth transition for Barnes-Jewish St. Peters and Progress West as a search is launched for her replacement.
