BJC | As revelers ushered in the new year Jan. 1, hospitals across BJC began seeing the year’s new arrivals.
Several BJC hospitals have welcomed their first babies of the year, starting on New Year’s Day.
Alton Memorial Hospital
John and Amy Perdun, of Jerseyville, Illinois, welcomed a son, Luke Riley Perdun, at 11 p.m., Jan. 3. Luke is the couple’s first child. He weighed exactly 8 pounds and was 20 inches long. Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital
Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2018 Jan. 2. Courwynn Miller was born at 8 a.m. to Laura Hall and Romero Miller. Peter Lamble, MD, was the delivering physician. Courwynn weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces, and was 19 inches long. He was welcomed by family, friends and staff. To celebrate Courwynn’s arrival, a variety of gift items were donated to help start Courwynn on his journey in life. Freda Haase, MBSH Auxiliary president, presented Courwynn with several baby care items to go along with those donated by the MBSH mother baby unit and Sullivan Wal-Mart. Parkland Health Center
St. Francois County’s first baby of 2018 arrived at 2:58 p.m., Jan. 1, at Parkland Health Center. Baby Harmony’s parents are Amber Godier and Stephon Robinson. Kim Borchers, MD, delivered Harmony. As first baby, Harmony and her mom were treated to a large gift basket loaded with a variety of items for mom and baby, thanks to area merchants, PHC obstetrics nurses, Ladies First, and Medical Arts obstetricians and pediatricians. Ragen Amelung, RN, presented the gift basket to Harmony and her family Jan. 2. “She is such a beautiful little girl,” says Amelung. “We are delighted to treat her and her family with some things to help them get started.” | Photo by Chris Westrich
